The stay at River’s edge resort, Athirapally, was exactly that – at the edge of the river. Beautifully located on the banks of Chalakudy river, secluded from the rush of city rush, it’s the best place to relax and chill out.

Amenities : 2 bedrooms, 1 kitchen, 2 bathrooms ( 1 attached, 1 common ) with geyser and common area( outside the resort ) for any events
Food : If you inform them prior to the star, (at least two days in advance) they will take care of it. You could bring your own food, because the resort provides you with dining table, wash area and a refrigerator. Searching for hotels ( places to eat ), especially at night, might not be a good idea, or you will have to travel till Chalakudy
The journey
We took NH 21 which had free following traffic on Saturday morning ( 19th December ) and a smooth drive, which took less than an hour. We went to Joe’s house first and after everyone came, hit the road again to the resort.
NOTE: If you are going from Trichur, Joe’s house is the next signal (where you have to take a right turn), after the road which goes to Pota ( again towards your right ) From his house its almost 15 kilometers
The stay
Although the maintainance at the place was not that great – most of the lights were not functional and AC did not work correctly sometimes and at night, power used to come and go ( although for a few seconds ) on a regular basis, the overall experience was pretty good
