Day 1 : Heading to Alleppey

Part – 1 : Train Journey

Train : 19262/Porbandar – Kochuveli Weekly Express
Boarding point : Trichur
Scheduled time was 11:15 am. But it came at 11:40 am.

Coming from porbandar. Train was less shaky . We opted for B2, 3 tier a.c., which came at location 15 . There were several bogies after that. Train was almost crowded, lot of north Indian people making their long journey to Kerala .Bathroom was ok . We reached at 2:10 pm ( exactly on time)

Station is as large as trichur. There is a prepaid auto stand and the place where the hotel is located is kalappura. All the auto drivers knew this place. It took almost 15 minutes to reach the hotel. And we paid 60 rs ( printed on the slip )

Part – 2 : Stay at Prince Hotel, Alleppey

About prince hotel
1. Large (probably 2 floors though)
2. Around 20 rooms
3. Afternoon meal is awesome : that is the highlight. Lots of sabji and curry(large bowl of fish curry):almost 10!! Unlimited rice

We reached the hotel restaurant at 3:30 pm and only meals and chapathi was available

1. Hotel has a swimming pool
2. Room is pretty large with a.c. and TV
3. LARGE reception
4. But no lift

Tomorrow we would be heading to travancore boat, next to hanuman temple ( 2km from our hotel)

From hotel, we took Ann auto, paid 80rs to reach the jatti ( Note : Except for Pre paid, none of the auto runs on meter and you have to end up paying almost double the normal meter fare)

Boat started at 12:00 pm.
The jatti is located 1km from the travancore boat office. Along the way you can see several normal boats with covering moving along the canal parallel to the road. Then we came across a really really narrow lane, which requires some really good skills even for an auto driver and went almost 500 meters and reached the jatti. Now that’s a sight to behold!! Dozens on house boats lined one after the other

On board we met k balachandran uncle and family ( wife ( who teaches at Clooney, icse school malleshwaram)and daughter who works for Bharat petroleum, Cochin) They stay at rajaji nagar.

Once we boarded, we were offered welcome drink. Then I just let all the surrounding sink into me until lunch time

It’s all wooden. With fan, light, a.c.( more about it later) and some really nice bathroom fitting

It constantly moves until 1:30 pm. We had lunch, and it was really good. Rice, fish curry and

Even Around 7:00 pm the room , the rooms remained hot. Thankfully they switched on the a.c. at 8:15 pm

DAy 2

It’s raining here. Beautiful climate. I’m still on the bed reading kindle, while the breakfast is getting ready
