Macro photography is a very interesting subject and I found most of people spending a good amount of money on lenses and very less on thinking. Hopefully, this tutorial aims to bridge that gap. I mean, there is nothing stopping you from going for the best piece of glass that money an buy but what this article tries to explore is the other route, the middle path
Stuff that you need
1. Reverse Mount Ring
Cost Rs. 150

2. Continuous source of light
Why flash does not work ?
3. A steady tripod with adjustments
In the macro world, objects which are out of plane, quickly loose their focus, the tripod must support the necessary adjustments for tilting, slanting and minutely adjusting it head. Ball head preferable.
4.Misc – post processing, extension tubes and coupler rings
One of my friend told me, ‘Ah ! Justin, I know how you took this photograph, you brough the camer way too close to the subject and zoomed in. Bingo ! you got a macro photograph. I mean, its impossible for some people to even imagine the kind of effort that goes behind each photograph. After all, that’s exactly what sets you apart from the rest of the crowd, right ?
So feel free to learn about post processing ( light room, adobe photoshop etc ) any kind of gear that will help you with your photography endeavour. Learn how you can make the best use of extension tubes, coupler rings ( to add multiple lens together ) and also making use of sunlight to your advantages
5. The most important – A mind capable of exploring concepts and never tired of experimenting
You should never limit your options. Try with extension tubes, multiple types of lenses, different light settings, changing background etc. When you start thinking about it, the possibilities are endless. Don’t feel shy to google for ‘macro photography ideas’, check groups in flickr which exclusively deal with macro photography and so on.
Spend time with your gear and keep experimenting and one day, you would be more than proud of the results you have produced
