Bass guitar strings

bass guitar strings ( 30 Jan 2014)

How to capture the most abstract yet classy shot of my guitar. I chose my bass guitar due to its thick strings. The angle for the shot was very important. I tried the typical side, top to bottom angles. But then the bottom up shot was simple awesome. This was the turning point. Took at least 3 shots before finalizing on the shot above.

Flash was not used because the body of the guitar and the strings reflected light and it did not look great. ISO was tweaked all the way to 3200 to ensure correct exposure. I used light from two windows.

Post processing

  1. Contrast was increased to give a more dark feel
  2. Image was cropped to 3/4 its size
  3. Converted to grey scale which gave the picture a classy feel
