This is my first trip in the sea. I am excited about it. After I was able to overcome the motion sickness, after my visit to Thiruvannamalai, travelling in a cruise ship was something that I wanted to do. I had been dreaming about this, since my childhood. I still remember, sitting outside a closed shop in Avenue road ( Bangalore ), on a rainy day, talking to Anand, excitedly listening to his experience travelling on a cruise ship, just a few months back. And believe it or not, my dream is going to come true day after tomorrow. And I simply cannot contain my excitement.

Today I will be heading to Trichur and tomorrow in the evening I will head to Cochin. On Thursday (April 28th), I will be board the ship M V Kavaratii, At SPORTS, Lakshadweep Wharf, Opp. FCI Gowdon, Willingdon Island, Kochi-3, for a 5 day cruise, in the sea. As per the plan, the ship will start sail in the afternoon.

I plan to carry my camera, two lenses and phone with headphones, along with other necessary items including clothes for 5 day stay. I am sure it will push my photography skills to the next level.

As per the information I got,

You have a whole day on each island to spend after having breakfast and disembarking the ship around 8 AM. Lunch is served at tourist complexes. You then return to the ship around 4.30 PM., after which she sails to the next island. To and fro travel from islands to ship is by special mechanised boats.

Route map

1. 403 kms from Kochin to Kavaratti island by ship. It takes 14 hours to travel and costs 7,000 one direction ( 14,000 for both direction )
2. If you intend to travel by flight, then the distance is 459 km and costs 4832 ( as of today ) for 1 direction

NOTE

1. Only BSNL has range on the islands. Kavaratti and Agatti Airtel available
2. Ships cannot dock at the islands. The facility to dock the ship is not available on all islands. The passengers will be transferred into boats, which will take them to the island
3. Activities available on the island
   1. Kavaratti: – Glass bottomed boat ride, Kayaking, Visit to Fisheries museum and folk dance
   2. Kalpeni: – Snorkeling, Kayaking( any one) Factory visit and Folk Dance.
   3. Minicoy: – Kayaking, Light House visit, Village visit and Folk Dance.
