Diwali – Manoj Chettan home visit | Hyderabad | Nov 2014

In the next few paragraphs, I explain the story behind each photo

Prologue

When I was at my brother’s place, from the 8th floor, where his home was located, we could see this beautiful body of water, which captured our interest. It looked so serene. I was surprise to find that my brother had never payed a visti to this beautiful place. So one after noon, I carried my camera gear and me and my brother decided to go for the adventure.

Since there were many construction projects going around the place, it was almost impossible to find the way to the pond. If it was me, I would have given up immediately but my brother persisted and kept on moving forward, asking people for the way. Through the dirt roads and muddy pools, we  reached our destination and it was definitely not something we expected.

The whole place was covered with human sh1t. Thousands of construction workers worked in these buildings as daily wage laborers and they answered the nature’s call right at the edge of this water body. We had to be extremely careful not to step into this area of human excreta. While we were contemplating about going back, a few people were looking for places to “get things done”. It was definitely not a place for a peaceful, serene photo shoot – I thought to myself. Immediately it started drizzling and I was done with.

My again, brother persisted. He said, since we took all the trouble and came here why don’t we take some photos. He even pointed to me at some birds which were sitting at the farther end of the pond. He told that he will hold the umbrella for me so that the camera doesn’t get drenched.

During most of the photo shoot, he held the umbrella, guided me to several places and always maintained an upbeat attitude.

With so much positive energy and support in his words, I decided to go in for the shoot

We were constantly being stared at by people who in a regular interval came to ‘get things done’ , hoping that we didn’t inadvertently take their photos and post on facebook !

butterfly shot

This was one of the most beautiful colorful butterfly that I ever saw. my friend, Colleen liked the photo so much that she wanted to share it on her timeline with all her friends

< crane shoot >

Other than the butterfly shot, which I loved so much, everything about the photo shoot was ordinary, I mean some landscape shots ( remember, the magic of post processing had not pitched in yet )

Then brother spotted this beautiful crane, standing still and it really did catch my eye. Tried several shots and the one posted above was the best of all

 Family photo

Back at home, the icing on the cake was the family photo that I had taken of Anu chechi, chettan and Isho mol. It came out very well and I believe I was able to capture the essence of each of them and I was very satisfied as a photographer. When multiple likes followed, many people even asking if it was a photo taken after their marriage ( implying that everyone looked great ) it was a great achievement for me as a budding portrait photographer

(Due to the public nature of this website, I would not be posting family pictures. If you know me personally, you could find the picture in my facebook album )
